We all know how the economy is going and if there has ever been a time to shop small, its now. Shopping from small businesses help push the economic and local growth. Doing this provides employment in your community to those that do not want to support big box stores. The Small Business Administration (SBA) reports 28 million small businesses operating in the U.S.
1. Small businesses allows you to give back more to the community - when you support small businesses, you are supporting your neighborhood and city. According to Civic Economics, “on average, 48% of each purchase at local independent businesses is recirculated locally, compared to less than 14% of purchases at chain stores.”
2. Small businesses can give you access to a more diverse range of product - they are able to tailor their products to their customers. They have the same access to the same vendors as the big box stores. If you are looking for products that are unique, you’re more likely to find them at a small business. Plus, if they don’t have a product you want, they’re more likely to be receptive to place a custom order for you.
3. Small businesses will help grow your business locally - shopping from these places will allow you to build relationships and open up opportunities to generate more leads and sales. When you have support for others in the community, they are more likely to recommend you for your product/service.
Small businesses need to stick together to keep the economy going. Come join us in the initiative to shop small!
