If you’re on the same algorithms as we are, you’re likely seeing the conversation shift toward de-influencing, reusing what you have in new and innovative ways, and being mindful of what we consume. We’re fully on board with these conversations and it’s been fun to challenge ourselves in new ways. This got us thinking about our content strategy, and yours! In an effort to be mindful of our online time, and have more capacity to work with clients, we’ve become big fans of repurposed content as a regular part of our strategy. Here are some of our stand-out thoughts on this:
Half your audience missed the post the first time
Let’s be completely for real, even if you just reuploaded the exact same high-quality content as before, it would still be impactful because new eyes that have never seen it would see it this time. While this isn’t our primary recommendation, it’s important to mention for perspective to remind you that (ESPECIALLY on social media) not everyone in your audience sees everything you post. You’re definitely not talking about it too much, because you’re probably not even talking about it enough.
Core industry principles are evergreen
Impactful messaging is often saying the same thing in a different way. People click with information differently. Visual learners need your Reels, Shorts, and TikToks. Information seekers want your long-form content with all the juicy details. Take that long-form blog and make the details bite-sized for customers with short attention spans by breaking it up into a carousel post.
Not all platforms last forever
At the time of writing this blog, TikTok is scheduled to be removed from the app store in less than a week. There are a ton of opinions on whether or not this will happen but there are two key takeaways here:
Don’t lose the great content you’ve posted if the app isn’t saved and you eventually abandon it. Save those videos and post them on other platforms, edit them into new ones, and reuse the content in a different format
Showing up for your audience in different ways on different platforms gives you exposure in a variety of ways without putting all your reliance on one platform. However, you must remember that you own none of your content on any social media platform and it could all go away without your consent. For this reason, please, please, please build an email list! In a social media climate that wants us to show up at all times in all places, know that you don’t have to trade your sanity and well-being to become effective and present on social media. Creating great foundational content on a consistent schedule and strategically recycling it will help you accomplish your goals without sacrificing more time and energy than you have to spare.
Need help with that strategy? We’re here to help and you can get a hold of us right here.
